Nanostructured multifunctional materials and nanocomposites

Implementation period: 01/01/2011 - 30/12/2019

GA number: 45018

Type of Project: National

Project aim: The goal of the project is to develop technologies for the production of innovative products for water purification from organic pollutants, new generations of nano / bio sensor devices, hydrogen storage technologies, as well as to provide incentives for the formation of new high-tech companies in this field in Serbia.

About the project: The project is focused on development of a new class of nanostructured multifunctional materials based on nanostructured oxides such as TiO2, CeO2 and ZnO, pure and doped with transition metals or rare earth elements; magnetic nanocomposites of the R2M14B type (where R is a rare earth element such as Nd or Pr, M is a transition metal such as Co or Fe); Zr-Nb-Ta nanocomposites; metal nanoclusters and metamaterials such as graphene. These materials can be used as highly efficient catalysts for water purification from organic pollutants, in nano / bio sensor devices and in hydrogen storage technologies. Further improvement of the synthesis process and appropriate characterization of structural, morphological, optical, electrical, magnetic, microdynamic and catalytic properties, in conjunction with theoretical simulations, should enable a better understanding of the properties of nanomaterials. This approach will lead to the development of catalysts with improved properties as well as to optimal materials for hydrogen storage.
