Project aim: The project aims to bring together a single consortium of e-infrastructure providers, research infrastructure operators and researchers from a wide range of scientific disciplines and to point out that data preservation, access and data sharing should be supported in a much better way. There is a growing awareness in most research communities that the “growing tide of data” will require new approaches to data management and that data retention, access and data sharing should be supported in a much better way. EUDAT2020’s vision is to enable European researchers and practitioners from any research discipline to store, retrieve, access and process data in a reliable environment.

About the project: EUDAT2020 is based on the foundations laid by the first EUDAT project, strengthening the links between CDIs and expanding its functionalities and competencies. EUDAT2020 services will cover access and storage, from informal data exchange to long-term archiving, and the identification, discovery, and calculation of big data. One of the main ambitions of EUDAT2020 is to bridge the gap between research infrastructure and e-Infrastructure through an active engagement strategy. Over the course of its three-year lifetime, EUDAT2020 will develop CDI into a sound data infrastructure for Europe, and position EUDAT as a sustainable infrastructure for the future changing demands of research communities.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 654065.
