Nanomembranes

Nanomembranes are artificial, freestanding structures with thickness in range of 1 – 100 nm and with a very large aspect ratio of few orders in magnitude. Being a quasi-2D structure and surprisingly robust, the nanomembranes can be functionalized to exhibit novel and unique properties for applications in various fields. There are four main means for nanomembranes functionalization: lamination of the nanomembranes by stacking multiple nanometer thin layers of different materials, introduction of functional nanoparticle fillers into the nanomembrane, surface sculpting, and functionalization of the nanomembrane through integration of nano-channels.

Having nanomembrane processing technology in our portfolio, we develop nanomembrane-based devices for agricultural and medical applications, including particle separation and tissue containers in stent-like structures.
