Plant phenotyping

Plant phenotyping involves the study of observable plant traits as a result of their genetic characteristics and environmental conditions. In modern research, this process relies on the use of advanced technologies, including hyperspectral, thermal, fluorescence, and 3D cameras, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with multispectral cameras, enabling precise and rapid data acquisition. Research conducted within the Plant Phenotyping Group at the BioSense Institute is carried out both in open-field conditions and controlled environments, allowing for comparability and validation of results. This approach contributes to the development of precision agriculture, optimization of irrigation and fertilization, early disease detection, as well as the improvement of plant breeding. Plant phenotyping plays a key role in the development of sustainable production systems and more efficient use of resources.
