Bioarchaeology

Bioarchaeology research group is focused on the reconstruction of ancient ecosystems by applying numerous analyses on human, animal, and plant remains from the past, as well as on other archaeological materials. Within our investigations, we combine different methods of biological anthropology, zooarchaeology, ancient DNA, stable isotopes analyses, and paleodemography, but also numerous studies in the field – remote sensing, surveys, excavation, and biogeochemical analyses of soils and sediments. In order to provide a complete overview into the life of ancient communities and reconstruct the human-environment interactions, we also apply numerous archaeological methods from settlement and digital archaeology. Results obtained through molecular and biogeochemical methods are interpreted within different theoretical frames grounded in humanities, emphasizing the interdisciplinary way as the only one valid for the interpretation of the data from the past.
