ClimateSmartResearch – New knowledge and innovations for climate-smart farming – connecting research stations
Acronym: ClimateSmartResearch
Implementation period: 01/06/2025 - 31/05/2030
GA number: 101216573

Project goal: The Climate Smart Research project aims to accelerate the transition to climate neutral agriculture by promoting collaboration, harmonized methods, data sharing, and innovation in climate R&I processes. It will explore advanced climate-smart farming knowledge and approaches with strong potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across 10 pioneering Experimental Research Stations (PioneERS). At the same time, the project will test, collect, compare, and scientifically validate climate-smart tools, services, decision-support systems, and emerging farming practices at an additional 19 stations (InnovatERS), helping accelerate the transition toward more sustainable and resilient agriculture.
Project description: Climate Smart Research (CSR) is a research & innovation project involving 29 Experimental Research Stations (ERS) across Europe. The project accelerates the transition to climate neutral agriculture in Europe. CSR contributes to EU climate goals by developing new Climate Smart Farming (CSF) knowledge and innovations and boost the potential of ERS in realising these goals. The networks of pilot demonstration farmers and climate smart advisors established in sister projects Climate Farm Demo (CFD) and Climate Smart Advisors (CSA) will be leveraged to ensure that CSR practice-oriented solutions are widely accessible to farmers across Europe.
BioSense role on the Project: The role of BioSense Institute on this project is twofold. The first involves managing the communication, dissemination, and exploitation of project results, aiming to maximise the impact of CSR by ensuring that project outputs are effectively integrated into the EIP-AGRI strand of the EU CAP Network, as well as into national and regional AKIS networks in Member States and neighbouring countries. The second role concerns Data Management.
