Project aim: Bottoms-Up is a cooperation project gathering information on forest multi-taxon biodiversity to inform sustainable forest management.

About the project: The Action challenge is to increase the degree of sustainability of European temperate forest management for biodiversity. The Action will gather the most comprehensive knowledge of European multi-taxonomic forest biodiversity through the collaboration of research groups that collect data locally. It will adopt a bottom-up approach, by establishing a synergy of local research efforts to collect information on multi-taxon biodiversity, structure and management, to inform sustainable forest management.
&nbsp;
Outcomes will include shared research and monitoring tools for forest biodiversity, innovative indicators for sustainable forest management (SFM) and management guidelines at the stand and landscape scale. These outcomes will improve forest management sustainability, ecosystem functioning and provisioning of services.
&nbsp;
The Action involves about 100 researchers and stakeholders from more than 30 countries and presents an outstanding opportunity to develop a strong network of collaboration for standardised broad-scale multi-taxon studies in Europe.

Isidora Simović

Mirjana Radulović is a Junior Research Assistant at the BioSense Institute with interests in remote sensing, geoinformatics, water resource management, agriculture, and the environment. She is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student of Geosciences at the Faculty of Sciences, the University of Novi Sad where she also received her BSc (2017) and MSc (2018) in the field of hydrology and geoinformatics. During master studies, she spent five months at the Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) where she studied as a scholarship holder of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program. In March 2019 she joined the BioSense Institute where she works on applying geographical information systems and remote sensing tehnology for monitoring of irrigation, drought monitoring, crop monitoring, land use classification, groundwater monitoring, etc. She participates in several national and international projects related to these topics. Mirjana authored and co-authored several scientific papers and attended several scientific conferences.

Mirjana Radulović

Dr Marija Miličić is a senior researcher at BioSense Institute, working within the Centre for Biosystems. In 2017 she obtained a PhD degree in Ecology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. Her research activities are primarily focused towards the conservation of a significant insect pollinator group – hoverflies. Marija conducts research of their ecology, functional diversity and the effects of different environmental pressures, such as intensive agriculture and climate change, on the distribution of these species. She is a member of the Advisory committee of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Hoverfly Specialist Group and an Associate researcher in Laboratory for integrative biodiversity research (LIBRe) based in the Natural History Museum in Helsinki, where she conducted a part of research for her PhD thesis.

Marija MIličić

Isidora Simović is a senior researcher at BioSense Institute. She did her PhD at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade, observing morphology, phenology, and anatomy of trees in various habitats. She is currently working on application of remote sensing techniques in the monitoring of climate and anthropogenic impacts on natural and urban ecosystems.

COST

BioSense Institute is studying the impact of climate change and disturbances on forest ecosystems. We are using the advantage of remote sensing techniques that allow automated methods for monitoring vegetation condition and link them to in situ data. We are using ground-truth data for the creation of remote sensing-based operational management of ecosystems with appropriate temporal and spatial resolution. Anthropological and ecological disturbances are studied as integrated processes of the environment and built into local to global forecasting models.

BOTTOMS-UP: Biodiversity Of Temperate forest Taxa Orienting Management Sustainability by Unifying Perspectives

Cilj projekta: Bottoms-Up je projekat saradnje koji prikuplja informacije o biodiverzitetu većeg broja taksona u šumama, radi informisanja njihovog održivog upravljanja.
&nbsp;
O projektu: Akcioni izazov je povećati stepen održivosti prilikom upravljanja evropskim umerenim šumama, zarad očuvanja biodiverziteta. Akcija će prikupiti najopsežnije znanje o evropskom multi-taksonskom biodiverzitetu šuma kroz saradnju istraživačkih grupa koje lokalno prikupljaju podatke. Usvojiće pristup odozdo prema gore, uspostavljanjem sinergije lokalnih istraživačkih napora za prikupljanje informacija o biodiverzitetu, strukturi i upravljanju sa više taksona, radi informisanja održivog upravljanja šumama.

Rezultati će uključivati zajedničke alate za istraživanje i praćenje biodiverziteta šuma, inovativne pokazatelje za održivo upravljanje šumama (sustainable forest management &#8211; SFM) i smernice za upravljanje na lokalnom i na landscape nivou. Ovi ishodi će poboljšati održivost upravljanja šumama, funkcionisanje ekosistema i pružanje ekosistemskih usluga.

Akcija uključuje oko 100 istraživača i zainteresovanih strana iz više od 30 zemalja i pruža izvanrednu priliku za razvijanje jake mreže saradnje za standardizovane široke studije multi-taksona u Evropi.

Naučni saradnik u oblasti biotehničkih nauka - šumarstvo

Mirjana Radulović je istraživač-pripravnik na Institutu Biosens čija interesovanja su okrenuta ka daljinskoj detekciji, geoinformatici, upravljanju vodnim resursima, poljoprivredi i životnoj sredini. Ona je trenutno student doktorskih studija geonauka na Prirodno-matematičkom fakultetu, Univerzitetu u Novom Sadu gde je takođe stekla diplomu osnovnih (2017) i master studija (2018) u oblasti hidrologije i geoinformatike. Tokom master studija pet meseci provela je na Univerzitetu Palacký u Olomoucu (Republika Češka), gde je studirala kao stipendista Erasmus + programa razmene. U martu 2019. godine pridružuje se Institutu Biosens gde radi na primeni geografskih informacionih sistema i tehnologija daljinske detekcije za praćenje navodnjavanih površina, suše, stanja useva, klasifikaciju iskoristivosti zemljišta, praćenje podzemnih voda itd. Učestvuje na nekoliko nacionalnih i internacionalnih projekata vezanih za navedene teme. Bila je autor i koautor na nekoliko radova i prisustvovala je na nekoliko naučnih konferencija.

Dr Marija Miličić je stariji istraživač na Institutu BioSens, gde radi u okviru Centra za biosisteme. 2017. godine je stekla diplomu doktora ekoloških nauka na Prirodno-matematičkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Novom Sadu. Njene istraživačke aktivnosti prvenstveno su usmerene na konzervaciju značajne grupe insekata oprašivača - osolikih muva. Marija sprovodi istraživanja njihove ekologije, funkcionalnog diverziteta i efekata različitih pritisaka okoline, poput intenzivne poljoprivrede i klimatskih promena, na rasprostranjenost ovih vrsta. Član je Savetodavnog odbora IUCN (Međunarodne unije za očuvanje prirode) specijalističke grupe za osolike muve i saradnik istraživač u Laboratoriji za integrativna istraživanja biodiverziteta (LIBRe) sa sedištem u Prirodnjačkom muzeju u Helsinkiju, gde je sprovela deo istraživanja u okviru svoje doktorske disertacije.

Marija Miličić

Isidora Simović je naučni saradnik na BioSens Institutu. Doktorila je na Šumarskom fakultetu u Beogradu radeći na praćenju morfologije, fenologije I anatomije drveća u različitim sredinama. Trenutno radi na primeni daljinske detekcije u praćenju klimatskihi antropogenih uticaja na prirodne i urbane ekosisteme.

BioSens Institut se bavi proučavanjem uticaja klimatskih promena i drugih faktora na šumske ekosisteme. Koristimo prednosti daljinske detekcije koja nam omogućava automatizovane metode praćenja stanja vegetacije i povezivanje sa in situ podacima. Podaci prikupljeni na terenu se upotrebljavaju za razvijanje operativnog menadžmenta ekosistemima zasnovanog na daljinskoj detekciji sa odgovarajućom vremenskom i prostornom rezolucijom. Antropogeni i ekološki uticaji na promene ekosistema se proučavaju kao integrisani procesi životne sredine i uvršteni su u lokalne i globalne predikcione modele.
