Project aim – The primary goal of Nostradamus is to safeguard EU Food Security and independence in agricultural inputs by creating a centralized Data Cube Ecosystem for real-time, aggregated, and accessible agricultural data, while also developing open-source digital applications to modernize and enhance the efficiency, resilience, and competitiveness of the EU agricultural sector.

About the project – Nostradamus is innovative EU-funded project dedicated to advancing the sustainability and resilience of the agricultural sector in alignment with the Farm to Fork strategy, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the European strategy for data. By developing a robust, real-time digital platform, Nostradamus harnesses the power of Earth Observation, IoT, and advanced algorithms to optimize resource use, enhance yields, and promote sustainable farming practices. Consortium unites 16 partners from 10 European countries, including universities, research institutes, SMEs, and public sector representatives, ensuring a rich, multi-disciplinary approach. With five demonstration sites across diverse biogeographical and socio-economic regions, Nostradamus will refine and test its applications in real-world settings while fostering collaboration among stakeholders such as farmers, policymakers, and scientists.

BioSense role on the project – Work Package 4 (WP4) lead by BioSense aims to develop core modules that enhance EU food security and reduce dependence on agrochemical imports, forecast droughts and hydrological stresses, estimate crop suitability and yields, project soil fertility and crop nutrition needs, and provide tools for sustainable pest management.
