The international conference Electroceramics XX took place from 12 to 15 October 2026 at the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad. Organised by the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, and BioSense Institute, the conference brought together the international scientific community to share research findings and discuss future directions in electroceramic materials.

Over four days, presentations, poster sessions and discussions examined the relationships between materials processing, structure and electrical properties, alongside opportunities for applications in energy harvesting and other technological fields.

Scientific contributions included research on ultrafast sintering of lead-free piezoceramics, with particular attention to how processing affects their piezoelectric and ferroelectric behaviour. Studies of dielectric properties and the electrical response of hybrid composites provided further insights into the potential of these materials for energy-related applications.

Bridging research and industry was a central theme of the panel discussion “Towards the Industrialization of Electroceramics in Europe”, which brought together experts from Europe, China and the United States. The discussion explored pathways for translating scientific results into industrial applications, addressing technology transfer, commercialisation, entrepreneurship and international collaboration.

The panel highlighted the importance of shared expertise, research infrastructure and stronger partnerships between academia and industry in supporting the development of Europe’s electroceramics ecosystem.

By connecting fundamental research with questions of materials processing, application and commercialisation, Electroceramics XX provided a forum for knowledge exchange and discussion of future research and industrial directions in the field.
