Snežana Pajović

Prof. Dr. Snežana B. Pajović is a distinguished scientist and university professor with extensive experience in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, endocrinology, and molecular biomedicine. She was born on September 2, 1961, in Čačak. She graduated from the Faculty of Science, University of Belgrade, Department of Molecular Biology and Physiology, specializing in Experimental Biomedicine. She obtained her master’s degree in 1992 at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, while she defended her doctoral dissertation titled “Hormonal Regulation of Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in the Rat Brain” in 1995 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She completed advanced training at several international institutions in Trieste, Bologna, and Catania, and in 1999 she spent time as a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Bioscience and Human Technology in Tsukuba, Japan.
She is a member of numerous national and international scientific and professional associations in the fields of biology, genetics, physiology, neuroscience, and bioethics. Her research activities include more than 140 bibliographic entries, over 80 scientific papers, as well as numerous books, monographs, and book chapters in scientific publications. She has contributed to the development of new methods and has participated in the implementation of both international and national patents. She is the recipient of the Golden Medal with the likeness of Nikola Tesla for her contribution to innovation and science.
She was elected as a scientific advisor in 2005, and in 2012 she was appointed Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Niš. She has taught undergraduate and doctoral academic courses in the fields of biology with human genetics, medical genetics, and molecular biomedicine. She has been particularly recognized for her work with young researchers through mentorship of numerous undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral theses. She has established significant international cooperation with institutions in Italy, Japan, and Slovakia and has led several international research projects. She has also served as a reviewer for renowned international scientific journals and professional publications.
Through her scientific and research work, she has made a significant contribution to the development of molecular biomedicine, molecular biology, and diagnostic and therapeutic clinical practice in Serbia. Since 2026, she has been serving as Acting Director of the BioSense Institute, bringing extensive scientific and international experience, as well as a strong commitment to the development of innovation and interdisciplinary research.
