Position:Junior Research Assistant in Centre of Sensor Technologies

Slavica Mitrović is a Junior Research Assistant at the BioSense Institute, within the Center for Sensor Technologies (CST), and a PhD student in Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. She completed her Bachelor’s (2022) and Master’s (2023) studies in Chemistry at the same faculty.

During her studies, as a recipient of the Fund for Young Talents scholarship, she completed an internship at the BioSense Institute, where she researched the application of biphasic Janus droplets as sensors for various analytes. During her Master’s studies, she participated in the Erasmus+ program – Summer School of Chemistry at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry (TU Graz), where she conducted an independent research project focused on improving the properties of polymers for use in dental implants.

Her current research is focused on the development of electrochemical and optical biosensors for the detection of analytes relevant to environmental protection and human health (heavy metals, pesticides). She is also engaged in electrode modification with nanomaterials, immobilization of bio-recognition molecules (aptamers), and the application of microfluidics for these purposes.
