Academic Rank: Junior Researcher

Jelena Tomić is a PhD student in Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, where she also completed her Bachelor’s (2024) and Master’s studies (2025). During her Master’s studies, as a scholarship holder of the Fund for Young Talents, she completed a professional internship at the BioSense Institute, where she gained experience in the application of electrochemical techniques, electrode modification, and optimization of methods for the detection of trace heavy metals in complex environmental matrices. Her research focuses on electrode modification using nanomaterials, ionic liquids, and polymer films, with the aim of improving analytical performance. Upon enrolling in her PhD studies, she continued her collaboration with the same institute, directing her research toward the development of electrochemical biosensors for glucose detection. Within her doctoral research, she is focused on optimizing biosensing platforms based on biomolecules to achieve high selectivity and sensitivity in the detection of analytes of clinical and environmental relevance.
