Danica Piper

Danica earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad, Department of Materials Engineering (B.Sc. 2019, M.Sc. 2021), and is currently pursuing her PhD at the same institution. Her research focuses on ultrathin ceramic films — their processing, characterization, and the application of Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations.
At the Faculty of Technology, she worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Applied and Engineering Chemistry and was engaged on the PROMTEH project, funded through the national PRIZMA program.
She has participated in several international conferences and summer schools in the field of ceramics, and spent three months at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), working on the development of edible electronic components.
She is a committee member of the Young Ceramists Network (YCN), under the European Ceramic Society (ECerS), where she is involved in science communication and connecting young researchers. She has contributed to the organization of conferences, schools, webinars, and science outreach activities.
