Vitalij Efremov je doktorirao na Odeljenju za biomedicinske uređaje državnog elektrotehničkog univerziteta „LETI” u Sankt Peterburgu, Rusija, 2006. godine. Vitalijeva glavna ekspertiza je u oblasti optičkih i mikrogravimetrijskih senzora koji se primenjuju u praćenju i dijagnostici koagulacije krvi. Pored toga, njegova istraživačka interesovanja uključuju, ali se ne ograničavaju na mikrofluidiku, optički dizajn, simulacije konačnih elemenata, imunotestove, dizajn eksperimenata, lasere. Vitalij je autor 3 patenta. Trenutno je uključen u nekoliko projekata koji imaju za cilj da isporuče nove integrisane senzorske platforme za dijagnostiku krvi životinja. Njegov istraživački rad rezultirao je u nekoliko međunarodnih publikacija u časopisima, kao i brojnim radovima objavljenim na međunarodnim konferencijama. Tokom svoje istraživačke karijere bio je uključen u 4 međunarodna projekta.
