The report showcased innovative solutions developed by our researchers to make agricultural production more precise, efficient, and sustainable.
Today, artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in agriculture. By combining satellite imagery, sensor technologies, and advanced data analytics, it enables producers to detect problems earlier, optimise production, and manage resources more efficiently. At the BioSense Institute, researchers are developing cutting-edge digital technologies that integrate artificial intelligence, sensor systems, and modern agriculture. Their goal is to transform scientific research into practical tools that help farmers make better-informed and more accurate decisions.
One of the key challenges in developing AI-based systems is the availability of high-quality data. To reliably detect plant diseases and other changes in crops, AI algorithms require large datasets containing information from both healthy crops and those showing symptoms of disease. In addition to AI solutions, the Sensor Technologies Center at the BioSense Institute is developing biosensor platforms capable of rapidly detecting a wide range of pathogens. These technologies can be adapted to address various challenges in agriculture and livestock farming, including the development of sensors for the detection of African swine fever virus, enabling rapid identification of the disease.
Although artificial intelligence cannot replace the experience and expertise of farmers, it is becoming an increasingly valuable tool for supporting more accurate decision-making and improving production efficiency. The innovative technologies developed at the BioSense Institute represent an important step towards a more modern, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector.
